Computational fluid dynamic analysis of hydrogen‐injected natural gas for mixing and transportation behaviors in pipeline structures

The transportation of hydrogen is a weak link in the large-scale development energy industry. Injecting into natural gas pipeline network for an efficient way to achieve large-scale, long-distance, and low-cost hydrogen. Hydrogen can lead embrittlement pipelines cause safety incidents if are not mixed uniformly. Therefore, it necessary study blending process uniformity gas. In this study, three-dimensional model hydrogen-injected was constructed. effects injection inlet turbulator configuration on mixing were investigated using computational fluid dynamics approach. results show that increasing number inlets shortens distance L98% uniform Increasing radial r from initial positions center will shorten pipeline. addition configurations significantly reduces mixing. Changing Lturb position further between provide reference structural design hydrogen–natural distribution state during process.
